Anyway, back to the project. I think I said on the main page that I found a site on how the Taiwan AEGs worked, and I considered doing it that way. But I didn't like it. It felt more like following one of those instruction manuals - insert tab a into slot b and so forth - and I couldn't spend several months working on something like that.
So I sat and thought about it. I saw the Junkyard Wars show, and I guess you could say it inspired me. Here was a simple system on how to do what I wanted - but I still had to fix it to make it right! Yay!
I want you to take a similar approach to this. Yeah, I'll give you just about everything you'll need to slap one together, and it should work okay. But I'm sure I'm not doing the most effective, or efficient, or best planned method for making this work. If you think of something better, try it! Maybe you'll kick my idea's general rear-facing area! Even better - if you do think of something better, send it to me. Who knows, maybe your idea will be put on a site 35 people or so have seen so far. That's public recognition there, buddy.
So I guess what I'm saying is, have fun. I'm not doing a lot of really precise measurements except where I have to, I'm only doing as much research as I want to, and I'm generally making up the details as I go along. If it doesn't work, it's no big deal, and that's the whole idea - it's so cheap, I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep over it, and maybe I'll even get something out of it. Maybe I'll try again, maybe I'll just cave and pay the wildly inflated price for one of those shiny Taiwan AEGs.
Anyway - I guess I'm done. Go build something cool.
